The board of Touch Southland is seeking expressions of interest from the Southland community in joining the board as a co-opted member.

Pursuant to section 10.1 (d) of the Touch Southland Constitution, the board can, at their discretion, co-opt two (2) individuals to the role of Director.

Board Governance -An overview

The role of the Board is to effectively represent, and promote the interests of Touch Southland with a view to its long-term growth and sustainability. The board will direct and supervise the management of the business and the affairs of Touch Southland including, in particular:

• Ensuring that strategies, goals and budgets are clearly established, and resources are in place for achieving them (such strategies, goals, and budgets being expected to originate, in the first instance, from management),

• Establishing policies for strengthening the performance of Touch Southland including ensuring that management is proactively seeking to build the sport through innovation, initiative, development and delivery,

• Monitoring and holding to account the performance of management,

• Appointing the Regional Manager, setting the terms of the Regional Managers employment and, overseeing the performance of the Regional Manager

• Deciding on whatever steps are necessary to protect the association’s financial position, the ability to meet its debts and other obligations when they fall due, and ensuring that such steps are taken,

• Ensuring that financial statements are true and fair and otherwise conform with law,

• Ensuring that Touch Southland adheres to high standards of ethics and corporate behaviour,

• Ensuring Touch Southland has appropriate risk management/regulatory compliance policies in place.
